The Allary family bought the small parcel in 1918. Following World War 2, the Allary family made an arrangement with the owners of Haut Brion to allow Haut Brion the rights to produce wine from the holdings of the Allarys. In return, the Allary family recieved around 1.5 Barrel (40cs) of Haut Brion every year. From 1954 to 1978, the wine was produced under the name of La Passion Haut Brion. By the early 1990's a law suit was filed in the French courts. Previously known as La Passion Haut Brion, due to a legal decision, the property was ordered to change their name to Domaine Allary Haut Brion.

From 1979 until 2007, the fruits from La Passion Haut Brion was used in Bahans Haut Brion. For decades Haut Brion was in charge of the wine making for La Passion Haut Brion. La Passion Haut Brion was a small production winery making close to 300 cases a year.

Latour is one of the legendary 5 First Growth estates of Bordeaux along with Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Haut Brion and Margaux. Latour lies at the very southeastern tip of the commune of Pauillac in the Médoc region to the north-west of Bordeaux, at its border with Saint-Julien, and only a few hundred metres from the banks of the Gironde estuary.

The estate dates back to 1378. A garrison fort was built 300 metres from the estuary to guard against attack during the Hundred Years' War. The estate name "La Tour" meaning "the Tower" is a direct reference to the ancient military function of the buildings. The original facilities were eventually destroyed in the 15th century so the original tower no longer exists. However a circular tower was rebuilt as pigeon roost in the 17th century and remains the symbol of the whole history of the estate.

The Lafite Rothschild estate has an incomparable history in Bordeaux, starting in the early 13th century the estate began its relentless course for quality in the 17th century with the arrival of the Segur family at the head of the estate. In 1695, Jacques de Segur married the heiress of Château Latour and their son Nicolas-Alexandre De Segur was the one who initiated the Revolution of the Great wines of Bordeaux pushing for a renewal of the appellation towards high quality wines. Lafite first got famous in London, as Nicolas-Alexandre De Segur was the first to have the audacity to put his own name on the barrels he was selling to negociants and to control the traceability of his wines at a time when the quality factor was being neglected and most of the productions adulterated by unscrupulous wine merchants.
